The Magical Power We All Have

Changing metals into gold.
Do we have this magical power within ourselves to heal that which is not serving us? During medieval times there was a belief in alchemy; the ability to turn metals into gold through what some might say "magic"; to find that miracle elixir to cure the myriad of diseases that were plaquing villages throughout Europe.
Five minutes of listening can change your view. Recently, I was listening to Juan Pablo Barahona, (founder and director of Kawoq Conscious Living School) speak about a concept called "inner alchemy."  The first thing I saw in my mind was Merlin stirring some magic potion to cure what was ailing King Arthur.
Juan Pablo Barahona
Barahona took this concept and applied it to our personal well being stating that, "we know how to heal ourselves if we trust;if we surrender to the practice. Create a practice that resonates with you." With enthusiasm he says, "move it, activate it, liberate the energy that is stuck: emotion-trauma-." Most importantly, "take back your power & become your own healer, access your bliss & creative life force."  I replayed the interview at least three times listening and absorbing his words and playing them out in my mind.

The first question I asked myself was, "do I really have the power to heal what is making me question, making me compare, or making me judge ME? It seemed like I might need a "magic potion" to carry out this monumental endeavor. And yet, Barahona tells us that this potion is inside each and every one of us. We need to learn to trust that we do have the ability to take care of ourselves emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Trust is one ingredient. A second element of this potion is learning how to surrender; to take down the barriers (sometimes many) that surround us protecting us from the trials and tribulations of life. I believe that we can. I believe that I can.
How then do I create my own practice to "heal" ME?  Designing a practice that will resonate with me and "heal" can vary depending on so many factors. On any given day my mindset is influenced by my arthritis, my diverticulitis, the amount of sleep I had the night before, and what I have planned for the day; 365 days a year. But, I am determined to create a practice that helps me stay healthy. That gives me the emotional cleanse I need. That challenges me. There are a plethora of yoga studios so it would seem rather simple to find one that resonates and fits the energy you are looking for.  One day I may gravitate towards a hot yoga yin class and the next an alignment class. I would suggest that a key to keeping your practice ongoing is to find studios that fit you.
Is there a secret potion that we can all take to "heal" ourselves? No, although the latest infomercial would tell you otherwise. I would ask that you do not buy into them. I invite you to take a look at you. Take some time to sit, notice how you feel in your skin. As you go through this self-evaluation really try not to place judgment. We are a judging society so this task may be extremely difficult. Recognize and let pass. I believe we all have inside of us the power, the creativity, the energy and the trust, to surrender and to heal.
Imagine, how empowering it would be to take back, to become, to access your bliss.
